There are no indications from.the Oromo side to indicate a movement in that direction.
There is a paradox of intentions otherwise. Amara and other minorities who live in Oromia are not afforded the right to offer their children primary education in their languages. Moreover, they ate not given media hours to serve Amara and Gurage minorities in Oromia.
But Oromo Broadcast Media allowed broadcast hours for Gurage language broadcast. I guess they want to be understood as a helping hand in bringing Gurage and Ethiopia news to the Gurage public in its own language.
This is what Amara media did not want to do.
Think positive. Don't think gloom and doom.
Doma,
Both you and Horsie are attacking the messenger instead of addressing the message.
You are not doubting the authenticity of the clip. That much is clear. It is obvious from the clip that Gada sys is slowly getting settled in Gurage and it has a significant support from the locals, and it has also your support. it is for that reason the title of the thread is “identity crisis”.
This has nothing to do with the Amharas. It is a love affair between the Oromos and Guraghies. But the Oromos called it a reunion. Regardless, good luck on the reunion.
But if you are happy in the reunion then why get angry and ranting on others? It is a kind of weird.
Totally wrong the way you concotted the interpretation of that one single event for half a day performance of which was merely a threatrical show of a fluke by its very short duration and a secrecy. It took place by the agencies of the restive minority Qebena provocateurs led by the Gurage Zone administrator who himself is from that violent group and some Oromo individuals bordering Gurage, probably from Amaya, Tulu Bolo, Goro or even Weliso. They were only a handful. Reunion, in their wildest dream
When news of the even spread, which it did quickly, the Zerma swarmed the event and squashed. I heard the invited Oromo gusts and their enablers had to flee to avoid altercations. It never happened again.
There never was a Geda system in Gurage. Gurage has a superior system called Sera. Always had it. Still in use by and large. What it is a system of laws and regulations to adjudicate conflicts, render judgements of punishments and rewards. Cases can be assaults, murders, land and marriage disputes, inheritances, etc.
Those who hear such case are those well respected individuals who proved themselves in the community thru the years to be persons of sound judgemen and impartial, agreeable to all parties. Age has no place in Gurage self-rule. There are also individuals called 'yezenga seb', rougly translated it means lawyers but literally it means ,' persons of conflict matters'. One can hire them to present your case to the judges.
