Re: Dr. Lema Megersa as Mandela and Dr. Abiy Ahmed as de Klerk of Ethiopia?

Post by OPFist » 12 Aug 2025, 13:50

Oromo elites are beginning to unite to help facilitate this transition. The already polarized Oromo elites—those aligned with Abiy’s bloc and those in Jawar’s camp—must find a way to calm tensions for the sake of Oromo unity. Such unity is essential to achieving freedom from dictatorship and moving toward democratic sovereignty.

It appears that Ethiopia may be on the path toward a peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy. This could be the best opportunity for Dr. Abiy Ahmed to take on the role of de Klerk, while Dr. Lema Megersa seems to be the most fitting figure to play the role of Mandela in the Ethiopian context. The process is underway, with Americans in particular—and the West in general—actively involved.
