I didn't listen to the video and the clip quoted here is very short, which is intentionally made to take something out of context, the usual way of the bankrupt political traders.

You didn't listen , but you are quick to opine that it was intentianlly taken out of context -- first listen before you comment about taken out of context .In this case you sound more the bankrupt one rather than the phantom "political traders "

If President of Oromia might have said Oromuma is above our respective religion, then I am going to ask myself about how that could be empirically wrong, unless some political bankrupts are trying to trade on it and stir some discussions and suspicions between those of different faiths?
Intelectually you can't reasonablly explain what Oromuma is above christainty and Muslim religion because even if you tried you will sound inept just like thእ buffon Shimels. we have grown listening ሀይማኖት የግል ነው ሀገር የጋራ ነው motto , he could have said ሀይማኖት የግላችን ነው የኦሮሞ ማንነታችን የጋራ ነው ፤ even if it is not an ideal he could have said " የክርስቲያን አማኝ መሆን ወይንም የሙስሊም አማኝ መሆነ የግላችን ምርጫ ነው የኦሮሞ ማንንነታችን ግን የጋራ ማንነታችን ነው ' no no no he has to sound radiculus in the name of oromuma .

Someone gets his/her blood identity by birth, but has to wait to choose his/her faith doctrine (christianism, islam phenteeizm, wezeterefa) until the person is of full age.

Don't bring the argument that you can also apply for citizenship rights after you are a grownup.

Obbo Shimales was an Oromo at his birth, but then he was a lutheran church member (assuming he is pheenxee) after he was a grown up, which is his choice.
You are not attributing shimales' Oromoness to a blood are you ? he is acultured to be an oromo just like his religion . Neither Shimels , nor jawar , nor Abiy are 100% oromos by birth but accultured one. That is why those who belive being an Oromo is a blood thing try to insulte them Dikalas , including Merara Gudina -- you are an interesting mix to that crowed if you also belive there is a blood identity .
In the world of the bankrupt political traders he is first and foremost what his religion is, and then his ethnic identity by choice.
Both are not a choices my friend --- Most of us are christians or Muslim because we grew up in christian or Muslim families or we grew up in predomnatly chrisian or Muslim society --there are exceptions to this rule but in majority of the cases that is the fact of life.
I am fed up of teaching bankrupt political traders.
Try to be a better teacher rather than a blind supporter.
