do u remember Eritrea all was good until the Isaias Afwerki stolen their victory.. do u remember castro cuba, and Robert Mugabe all promised heaven and we know where they end up .. therefore to me this is only half victory.. i want Sidama should not give power to Sidama state.. they should still stay in Fed. state that can force regulation if the state behave badly for example cheating election term limit all this can be fed state so Sidam should not be total independent they need fed. government to straighten out the so called regional governor if they behave badly ... i know it is very exciting time in Sidama history.. but if they want to make it they should also suspicious of their own governor who promised them honey and milk to flow like river after clean cut from fed government ...

the Sidama people must put clear goal for the coming regional government 1. peace 2. law and order. 3. economy development . 4 education and health . 5 job etc etc they must deliver this with in next two years if not they must face election in just two years if they did good job they will be allowed to finished the rest of two years without vote.... all this must be planed and know who can call Midterm elections to impeach the governor something like that...

How is this a win for the constitution or ethic federalism? Sidama being a kilil doesn't affirm the constitution or ethnic federalism. The question of Sidama is one of equity, 9 regions based on ethnic/tribal identities were allowed to exist for 27 years while Sidamans were denied that same opportunity despite repeated requests to be counted as equals. This uneven application of the law was profoundly unjust and TPLF was completely responsible for every year of those 27 years that Sidama couldn't be counted as an equal among the 9 regions. Same TPLF that is running around overjoyed at this successful referendum is the same one that was locking up and torturing those who asked for it during their reign.

But finally they have their equality affirmed with a referendum. That won't suddenly validate ethnic federalism or stop the momentum to reform the constitution and abolish ethnic federalism. In fact, the true test for evangelists of ethnic federalism is when Sidamans discover being a kilil doesn't suddenly produce a larger share of the national budget, nor does it magically produce more infrastructure or jobs. When all those hooligans that were promised everything in the world to vote for being a kilil realize they won't just get to move in to some building and own it, be wary of who they will blame for their misfortunes then.

if u had read my input you would have got the answer .. let say if the Southern region get one billion budget the still get the same budget but Sidama will take their own portion ... here is make or fail happened the new Sidama Governor should take this money and invested in coffee processing this way Sidama should not have to send coffee to Addis Ababa raw they will process it in Sidama and export it directly ... now to do this they must use high modern technology they have to be leapfrog they should not be afraid to leapfrog ... use the best of the best technology to process their coffee that allone will give them one billion dollar pure income beside the Budget ... now as u said any state is not plug and play there might be a lot of failure but they should be allowed to fail.. as long as they learn from their mistake that would be in good forward march...

but saying they will not make it take away their aspiration to be state is stupid

I don't respond to you because I don't see the point in talking to someone whose is paid to dump one incoherent paragraph after the other. But I'll make an exception this time because I want others to see the utter stupidity of what you just said. The budget Sidamans will get is the exact same that was always proportioned to that part of the region. Sidama based governors being in charge of the money won't suddenly make it grow. The SNNP administration was already heavily Sidama based so anything that could have gone to that region was already doing so. Actually now there is less to work with because of more overhead. They are carving out more from that budget to establish this new administration. So they will actually be making do with less of that same budget now that they are a kilil.

I don't know what differences between region and state you are referring to but in either case they mean the same thing here. And people did promise a perfect future to many people to make this happen. Promises they are going to wish they didn't make because they are fully answerable for them now. And mistakes are mistakes regardless of who makes them. Going to bed hungry is not going to feel any better for a man because he is now governed by someone from his ethnicity.

Regardless, I think it's important that Sidamans see for themselves what this step produces or doesn't. I am confident that, eventually, the lacks of benefits in this arrangement will be as clear to them as to the ones who are already experiencing it.

And I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you are not a TPLF cadre shilling for support and genuinely from Sidama and if that's the case, understand that none of those groups you listed brought you an inch closer to real federalism or the referendum you're celebrating. They couldn't even bring it for themselves much less to anyone else.

Idiot Woyane rat - where is the new billion dollar coming from? The national spending budget for this year has been already approved and released. There will not be any additional penny despite the birth of a new region. Likewise, the budget increase for the coming years will be apportioned proportionally.

It’s idiotic to expect a different coffee production, which is a private matter. It’s up to the farmers to modernize the farming and production mechanisms. If TPLF wants to donate the stolen national wealth to the Sidamas, be my guest. The only advantage the new region has is that all the farm state taxes will now remain in Sidama. But there is a caveat: the region now carries all the agricultural risks associated with production, marketing, financial, legal, and Human Resources.

r u idiot, Sidama farmer send the green coffee without processing to Addis ABaba .. in Addis ABabba all they did was hand pick the stone and broken coffee that is not up to standard and they export it and make ten time what the farmers from Sidama sold them .. so what i suggested was for the Sidama farmers to leapfrog and use color-sorter instead of using man power to pick stone and other reject this way they dont need big investment ... this color sorter also help to sort the cheery that is ready to pick from reject green cheery.. end to end process .. this is only the first step .. the send step they will process it farther and export finished product .. Sidama have the best coffee in the world u can test the difference ..

Sorting, fermenting and washing of all other coffee farmers occur locally and they all collectively export their produces directly to the roasters. What else is left, as$hole? Do you also want them to do the roasting and packaging of the 1kg bags? Dumbas$.
