I think you are right. They even refused to wrire and speak their Gurage language other than Amhraic just to prove they are anything but Ethiopian. They equated Ethiopianist= Amharic.
It all started by those who were given high positions of power in the Ethiopian government from way back to Menelick era and carried forward to the present, who in turn exrted influence on Gurage Zone gov, schools, churches and mosques.
Proof a group doesn't die suddenly but slowly.

This is an outcome of a dislocated identity. Not only negligent and irresponsible, outright outrageous. Rewarded TPLF's Tigrey with school that has assassinated at least 4 Gurage politicians: one EPRDF member from Kistane, one EPRDF member from 7bet, one Kinijit member from Mesqan, one Gurage who was the Chair of the Gurage Democratic Front. To rehab TPLF's children for whose future innocent and peaceful Gurage politicians were murdered extrajudicially. Why do you small people hate Gurage so much? What has Gurage done to you?

While there exist so many disadvantaged children all over Gurage, this Kistane rich man builds a school in TPLF's country.

Ridiculous gift to Tigrey. Mindless genorosity. Irresponsible gift to Tigrey.
Tigrey that denied Gurage its constitutional right to have a federal region. When Gurage Zone elected officials unanimously voted demanding for a Gurage region, they had to submit to the SNNPR as they should which would in turn submit it to the Ethiopian parliament.

Before SNNPR could send it to parliament, the EPRDF official in charge of federal affairs disallowed it to progress. The same man allowed Sidama's demand to proceed to the Ethiopian parliament.

This foolishly generousman, who lived this events in Ethiopia, knows this happened but still rewarded Gurage's political enemy.

I am ashamed.
