Former U.S. Diplomat Clashes with Eritrea Over Horn of Africa Tensions

In his opinion piece, former Assistant Secretary of State Tibor Nagy Jr. warned of rising Ethiopia-Eritrea tensions, spotlighting Eritrea's authoritarian rule, lack of elections since 1993, indefinite national service, and low press freedom. Eritrea's embassy dismissed him as a biased 'political maverick' tied to Ethiopian interests, while Nagy fired back on X challenging them to disprove claims of Eritrea as a 'prison camp.' The back-and-forth drew diaspora support for Nagy's points on human rights issues documented by groups like Human Rights Watch, amid Ethiopia's push for Red Sea access and fears of renewed border conflict.

1. The amount of American financial aid received by Ethiopia’s government since it took power: $30 billion.

2. The amount stolen by Ethiopia’s leaders since it took power: $30 billion.

People like Tibor Nagy, when they were serving as diplomats, they made deals with corrupt Ethiopian politicians for kickbacks in exchange for approving large amount of foreign-aid to Ethiopia. The moment their term ends, the diplomats open up lobbying or consulting firms to allow Ethiopia funnel the kickbacks into their bank accounts. This is why many experts say foreign aid dollars never leave the bank accounts in the donor nations.

Take Susan Rice, for example, who earned an annual salary of $216,000, but has a net worth of $40 million, thanks to her master-slave relationship with corrupt Ethiopian officials.

Imagine what $30 billion dollars can do for a poor and miserable country like Ethiopia, but unfortunately all that money is spent on paying off corrupt diplomats that help clean Ethiopia's dirty image, because for the Ethiopian politicians suffering from a massive inferiority complex, image is everything.

Esu makes the US undersecretaries of state for Africa feel very small. When they are in office, servile black leaders like Abiy treat them like God which inflates their egos. And then they meet Esu who treats them exactly the way they deserve to be treated, as insignificant little achievers. The office they hold may be of great consequence but what are the Nagys and Susan Rices but just career diplomats of little achievement. Esu led a struggle with superhuman resolution that defeated the largest army in Africa. His achievements outweigh that of a 1,000 Tibor Nagys. And they know it. Thus, their bitterness!
