Ethiopia has been widely noted for attempting to implement an East Asian-style developmental state model, particularly drawing inspiration from South Korea and Taiwan, which can be seen as a form of "copycatting" or emulation rather than original development.
This approach focused on state-led industrialization and economic growth but has also drawn criticism for its potential flaws and contradictions with democratic principles.
Additionally, the current Ethiopian administration has faced accusations of intellectual plagiarism, especially in the context of political discourse and academic work.
Everything is copycatting. Nothing of substance

Inspiration from East Asia:
Ethiopia's economic and political strategy under the EPRDF regime was heavily influenced by East Asian developmental states, which achieved rapid growth through strong state intervention.
State-Led Industrialization:
The government pursued policies to transform the economy from agriculture to industry, including attracting foreign investment to build manufacturing capabilities and industrial parks.
Critiques:
While this approach led to economic progress, some scholars argue it had flaws and did not align with the country's democratic and federal aspirations.
Intellectual Plagiarism
Allegations Against the Current Administration:
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his administration have been accused of systemic intellectual plagiarism and appropriation, a serious issue of ethical concern in political leadership.
Academic and Public Scrutiny:
These accusations have been documented in various media outlets, with reports highlighting extensive plagiarism in academic works, including the Prime Minister's own PhD thesis.
Systemic Issue:
The issue has been framed as a breach of ethics and a sign of a deeper crisis in political culture, where leaders rely on others' ideas without proper acknowledgment.

Odie,
Even the so-called "Horus Corridor" is a copy. Corridors like these have often failed and led to the marginalization of the masses, a trend now visible in Horus's Fin-Fin project. In the case of Horus's Orommuma initiative, the goal is not a well-intentioned policy gone wrong, but a deliberate act of demographic engineering.
Such grand projects are also typically designed to drain national resources. They are often referred to as "white elephants."
