It is a well written and well narrated story. It goes to tell that Abune Philipos of Debre Bzien put a curse on the people before he came to and settled in Debre Bzien. According to the story, Abune Philipos fought hard against the then Emperor and Patriarch to take Saturday as Sunday as holidays . But the emperor and Patriarch insisted of having only Sunday as a holiday thus by their order he was tied him up by skin and thrown into Estifanos's lake in Wollo in the land of Amhara. During the 4 years of suffering, he put curse on the people as follows.
ስደትኪ ይብዛሕ።
ደቅኺ ረጊኦም ኣይቀመጡ።
ዝስደዱ ይብዝሑ።
ሂወቶም ኣብ ስደት ይሕለፍ።
ናትኪ ትንሳኤ ከይርእዩ ረጊመዮም ኣለኹ።
ምስጢርኪ ይሰወሮም።
በረኸትኪ ኣይይርከቡ።
ናትኪ ዝኾነ ኩሉ ጸላእቲ ይጠቐምሉ።
ንደቅኺ ግና ይሰወሮም።
ናይ ቅዱሳን በረኸት ኣይይብጻሓዮም።
ብፍቕሪ ገንዘብ ኣዒንቶም ዝዓወረ ይኹን።
