So, according to your ignorant and idiotic reasoning, prisoners of war (POWs), who are held captive by a belligerent entity during or immediately after an armed conflict, should also be killed off and never be released and/or repatriated, which is against the Article 118, first paragraph, of the 1949 Geneva Convention III.

Of course, the only convention or law that Eritrea respects is Afwerki, as he's the law.

I respect Eritreans and their disagreement with our current system of governance, but the truth is, it is the only way to keep the country together for now.
Many of us from the south, who lost a lot (that's putting it lightly) during the conquests of the previous emperors (who couldn't have done so without European elites), want a form of autonomy and our own state(s), and of course, this will be based on ethnicity/nationality.
No system of governance is free of problems or flaws, since the very minds that designed it are inherently flawed.


Remember, what works for you and others, may not necessarily work for us. It is all context based-which is similar to the answer an Eritrean sister/official gave when asked about Eritrea's style of governance.

Tplf, with their ulterior motives, of course, exploited it, but we've always had these problems in Ethiopia.
We have a looooong way to go, on this journey, of re-defining what an Ethiopia is; not just someone who wears white shammas, shakes their shoulders, speaks amharic, is an orthodox, and eats doro wat (which is all fine and dandy, but isn't what the majority of us do/or is).
Maybe in the future, we can mature and move on to a different system-I doubt it, but who knows?

Ultimately it's the decision of Ethiopians, of course. Eritrea, can only SUGGEST what it thinks is the better option.

The reason Eritrea even talks about this issue at all is because, while the Weyane were cooperating with the EPLF against Menghistu, this was the core issue that separated them for some years. The Weyane made then a U-turn and came back with cape in hand, after the EPLF destroyed the nadew-ez in Afabet.

The EPLF thought the issue was finally resolved and the tplf has come to its senses, but Meles came with this destructive Ethnic-Federalism crâp after entering Menelik Palace.

Imagine, if he had administered Ethiopia with no ethnic division & discrimination. We wouldn't be talking about this at all, today.

That is the hope that I and others have, as well.
I prefer a loosely federated Ethiopia, almost like a federated version of Ethiopia-The U.S.E-United States of Ethiopia.
A reasonably weaker central govt, with strong state governments, because we want our autonomy and right(s) to govern our own state.
In the past, elites sent their men from the north, to the south, to exploit and harm our people. They didn't bring any new crafts, arts, skills, etc, all they did was take and take; hence the reason why our country, despite being resource-rich, is still very much under-developed.
Their exploitations, in Oromia, for example, is the major reason why there's poverty in our lands despite us having enough resources to become a middle income country.
At least the Italians built stuff, such as roads, and other things (they even had afaan oromo radio programs, which haile selassie promptly shut down), both in our lands and in Eritrea. But the Abyssinian empire did nothing for us in the south, or even in the north for their own poor peasant who are still as poor as ever.


Eritreans are free to disagree, but this is bigger than the tiny (that was once over-sized and over-fed by the resources the West gave it) TPLF; because Oromo's are among the most ardent backers of a federalist style of governance, along with others such as the Sidama.
There's always been ethnic discrimination and division in Ethiopia bro, this new system may have made it more clear, true, but it's always existed.
ex: in haile selassie's time, what did they do? burn tigrinya books? forcefully impose amharic on others?
make two people or more, in court, speak through an amharic interpreter, even if they and most of the people there did not understand amharic?
Bro, I can go on and on, for days. Naga/Peace to the Horn of Africa and all of Africa bro!
