The Neguse Negest system is an organic federalist system devised by Ancient Tigrayans in Axum. The core foundations of the system are respect for autonomy, self-rule and differences. Hence, the Abyssinia / Ethiopian Empire has always been a federalist arrangement.

The Neguse Negest system is a federalist system where the Neguses have autonomy on their territories and pay taxes to the Neguse Negest (federal government). The Neguse Negest looks after common defense and international relations. Actually, it looks like it was HSI who ended the federalist system when he fired the Neguses but still kept the Neguse Negest title. He introduced a centralized state system into a country that has always been a federalist structure. Mengistu continued the madness of unitary state which resulted in Eritrea's independence.

The Isaias, Abiy & Amhara Elite / fake 'Ethiopianist' alliance have plunged the country into another bloody war after 30 years in order to re-install a centralized / unitary state system and end the existing Constitutional Federalism. Tigray has single-handedly defeated the Alliance and forced PM Abiy & his PP to commit to keep Constitutional Federalism.


On ethnic killing, he admitted that it is the politicians that are using ethnicity for political killings in Ethiopia. The politicians in previous administrations were not determined to cleanse areas from different ethnicity by killing the other ethnicity. Now politicians in some Oromia region areas are killing Amharas and the Amhara politicians in some Amhara region areas are killing Oromos. Amhara region's ethnic cleaning of Tigrayans in Western Tigray is now internationally recognized 21st century crime.

It is disgusting to relish on briefly interrupting Tigrayans in Shiraro, Shire, Axum and Adwa from exercising self-rule. Tigrayans in Shiraro, Shire, Axum and Adwa have exercised self-rule for millennia. Interrupting that for few months is apparently Shaebia's greatest achievement that the likes of you gloat about. Typical Isaiasism's! Equality by subtraction is still your motto in life. You have denied Eritreans self-rule and extending that denial in parts of Tigray (albeit for a brief period) is apparently worth sacrificing over 60,000 Eritrean soldiers who have children, wives, moms and dads who are going to miss them forever.

Unelected ethnic thugs

To date, ethnic federalism (where it has sometimes been known as Zenawism) has only been nominally practised in Ethiopia. Since the constitution was established in 1995, the ruling Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) has maintained power through autocratic means. Ethiopians in the nine regional states have never had the privilege of electing their own governors.

These officials have instead most of the time been appointed through informal channels by the PP leadership in Addis Ababa. In effect, the notion of self-rule – which is the fundamental principle of ethno-national federalism – has never been practised.

What Ethiopia’s different ethno-national groups had attained was cultural autonomy and the opportunity to be governed by non-elected political elites from their own ethnic group.

Until his death in 2012, Ethiopia’s strongman Meles Zenawi appointed and unseated the leadership in each regional state (including his native Tigray) at will. After his passing, this political elite, who had initially been appointed by the centre started becoming increasingly autonomous from the control of the federal government as well as its people.

Ethiopia then entered a condition of decentralised autocracy, and elite competition for power over the central government mobilised along ethno-national lines.
