I have always suspected that the Junta leadership was always getting protection from attacks. Do you remember last time when the government made public that the criminal clique was located and their movement was being monitored around the clock ? We were also told then the army was careful not to kill women and children ( hostages ) in the process of eliminating those wanted criminals.

What about allowing the Finnish female journalist to visit Getachew Reda and talk to him in an open field ?

In addition to that it is logical to think that the government knew where Getachew and co. were before they took the plane to Djibouti and then to South Africa.

Btw if Amara forces did all of what you said, why did it take ENDF and Eritrea help to free Welkait?
Also, why did Abiy have to send liyyu from Oromo, Afar, Somali, even Sidama, etc? All of that with ENDF and Eritrea too? Surely if Amara were so strong they could do it alone? Just being honest and fair here..no disrespect intended.

Last year Abiy began playing a funny game sending 100 Gambela sidama debub police into the frontlines didn't change anything. The people of Wollo learned their hard lesson and decided to rise up for themselves this time no need for outsiders in a insider war. Also Welkait has been free by Amhara and ENDF mechanized brigades (tanks artillery) not much Eritrean involvement at all.

If Amhara was to be given modern mechanized weapons then for sure amhara would do well without ENDf just like many militias did well and made it out this 2 year war slowly starting from old rifles to machine guns and more modern weaponry

Self-defence includes protecting Abiy and Addis Ababa. As for the Amharas they could do a lot of things but they need proper military training in large numbers ( upto a million man ) and weapons of high quality. The Amhara people are excellent fighters. With the help of their friends are capable of making wonders.
