Unless one knows the specifics of it, it is unlikely to assume about it. To begin with, although the conflict has a national dimension it is mainly about the Amhara and Afar people that carried the brunt of this war. No one or no single leader can make a deal on the backs of these two people. Secondly, at minimum, this improbable unless TPLF pulled out its rag tag well beyond Wollo of Korem Alamata and in all areas of its incursions of Afar and North west Gondar. Return all looted industrial plants so that people could get back to work. The fundamental sticking point is it is inconceivable to have discussion with a group legally designated as terrorist and has committed genocide.

Of course, it is all bs. Blinken tried all year long to make a regime change and failed. The so called disintegration of Ethiopia has become a historic moment of Ethiopian unity. The seemingly local anti- colonial Ethiopian movement is slowly growing into African awakenings. The shocking defeat of democrats in the Virginia election and the real possibility of democrats loss of majority in 2022 have fundamentally shifted US policy in Ethiopia.
America's reliance on Kenya to do its Ethiopian foreign policy shows the weakness, not American strength in Africa. The whole American game was over when Abiy called for national state of emergency and put the whole nation on a war footing. Ditto! All talk about cease fire bla bla is meaningless. The political aim of this massive war, the biggest war in the world, must be achieved.
One of the core objectives of the war is not the return of TPLF army back to Tigray; it is the destruction or degradation of TPLF's war making ability going forward. In this sense, the Ethiopian front has just begun the war. The only unknown is will the Ethiopian front return to Tigray or stop at Mekelle city and start talking.
US/EU/ UN/ AU are not the war parties. It is the Ethiopian front and the Junta that will decide the outcome of the war!
