Ethiopia's Tears About to be Cried by America

Post by teodroseIII » 16 Aug 2021, 23:40

Most Americans have no idea what is around the corner because they have not seen what many of us from developing nations witnessed before we reached the safe shores of the United States. My family and I were forced to flee with only the possessions we could carry with us in 1982 as we left behind our home, cars and priceless mementos in order to escape the terror of the Derg government. In a flash, the privileged life we enjoyed in Addis Abeba was replaced with struggles in America; gone was upper-class status as my father was forced to work three and four jobs at a time to provide for his family.

Eight years earlier, a month before I was born, Emperor Hile Selassie was deposed by Marxists who leveraged a famine in Wollo and the agitations of students to gain power. They promised to give Ethiopians change, they delivered carnage instead. Within two years, Mengistu Hailemariam unleashed his secret police and committed genocide—over 500,000 men, women and children were murdered in cold blood. The Derg government secured the country by suffocating the people as they pitted neighbor versus neighbor and terrified tens of millions of Ethiopians into compliance. Sound familiar?

Though I was only seven years old when we fled Ethiopia, the apprehension my parents felt as they drove through checkpoints and the feeling of angst that was pervasive throughout the land lingers in my mind to this day. As much as I criticize our government—which is my right as an American citizen and a human being—I am forever grateful to be living in this blessed land. If I tried to write or speak about the issues I express back in Ethiopia during the heydey of the Derg or the TPLF government that succeeded them in 1991, getting banned from social media would be the least of my worries, I would be deplatformed from earth...continued...

When we did not think tribally the TPLF were massacring us and smiling about eliminating us from this earth.

Amhara has no tribalism it is nationalism.

Amhara is 20% of Ethiopian Landmass
Amhara is 30% of Ethiopian Population

It can’t be only Amhara saying Ethiopia not helping its own people for absolutely NO reason.

When we love Ethiopia they call us oppressors

My love for Ethiopia means absolutely nothing to the savages of welega arsi bale ambo tegray etc

they persecuted all Amhara people

Let me ask you a question, is Ethiopia worth 100 years of suffering? How about 50? How about 27? Or Ethiopia tikdem just a political slogan that you don't believe in?

So then essentially, Ethiopia is not worth it. Yasazenal, all those years protesting against the ethnocentrism of TPLF, you and every Ahmara-centric tribal warrior have become that which you hate.

Millions of Ethiopians had suffered during the feudal era of Haile Selassie's imperial reign, who not only attempted to conceal the 1972 famine in Wollo, but was always seen smiling when having his pictures taken feeding the pet dog he had received from his Western masters to remind him of what he really was to them: A poodle. The only difference between the emperor and his two successors is the national origin of their masters. Now is the only time in its history that Ethiopia is learning to stand on its own two feet.
