Ethiopia Needs Its Own Atatürk for a Transformation to a Value-Based System
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk abolished the Ottoman Caliphate (1300-year-old Islamic spiritual leadership), replaced religious courts with Western civil codes, and removed Islam as the state religion. Radical transformation that greatly transformed Turkey into a modern society.
Ethiopia stands on a precipice. Restructuring of Regional States (Kilils): Radically restructure regional states into multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, and economically productive units designed to guarantee universal values such as equality and justice for all, dismantling ethnic enclaves in favor of shared civic progress.
Linguistic Modernization: Adopt English as the sole official federal language to level the political playing field, supported by a fixed, structured transition period incorporating Amharic and Afaan Oromo.
Banning Identity-Based Politics: Legally prohibit political parties, platforms, or movements organized around ethnicity or religion, outlawing any political discourse that discriminates or excludes based on identity.
Educational Revolution: Execute massive investments to achieve an uncompromising quality of education to build a rigorous academic baseline capable of bringing forth a truly civilized, enlightened citizenship.
