Arsii, Shawaa, Wellega, Oromiyaa bal'aa,
Geerarsa gootaatiin kan boonfe biyyaa.
Seenaan isa faarsa, seenaan Gobanaasaa,
Oduu gootummaa isaatu haasa'ama.

Goota Diina Dura Dhaabbate
Agulaatti malee diina dura hin kaatu,
Eeboo fi gaachanni isaa biraa hin citu.
Waraana irratti nama goota ta'e,
Diina sodaachisee, onnee fuudhee gala.
Gadaa fi safuudhaan diina kan wareege,
Aadaa fi faantoota warra keenyaa eege.
Gootummaan isaas boonsaa seenaa keenyaa,
Goolii fi dhukaasaan deebisa maleennyaa.

Malkaatti Fi Gadaatti
Malkaarra dhaabbatee, gaachana isaa kaasee,
Sagalee gootummaan diina lafaan dha'e.
Afaan Oromootiin faaruu isaa faarsu,
Goota guddaa sana eenyutu dagata?
Luuqqee fi eeboo isaa mormatti baatee,
Lola keessatti gootummaa mul'ise.
Diinni yoo dhufu socho'ee hin mugu,
Afaan leencaa keessaa seenaan isaa hin badu!

The Song of Gobana Daachee
Across the wide lands of Oromia,
Through the echo of heroic chants,
The history of Gobana is remembered—
A tale of unmatched bravery and strength.

Standing Bold Before the Enemy
He never faltered in the face of conflict,
Spear and shield forever at his side.
A warrior of renown upon the battlefield,
Striking fear into opponents, returning with honor.

Guided by custom, tradition, and resolve,
He defended the lineage and legacy of his people.
His valour shines through the pages of time,
A force that met every challenge head-on.
Legend at the Crossing

Standing by the river's edge, shield raised high,
His powerful voice declared his presence.
In the native tongue, his stories are sung—
For how could such a figure ever be forgotten?
With spear in hand and unwavering gaze,
He showed true courage in the heat of battle.
When danger approached, he never slept;
Like a lion’s legacy, his name endures!

He was a short and feather weight man of straw. Even at old age he was very thin. Barefoot, his photos show him holding a spear and gasha but he used guns thanks to plenty of gun supplies from Italy.

He was not a muscular man, strong hands with bulging biceps needed for physical combats which he did not have to. And did not fight hand combats. Neither Menelick did. Italians provided Menelick with more than guns. Menelick's barefoot soldiers wore white abujedi pants and tops.

Menelick won most of his battles because of meticulous intelligence gathering techniques Italian military attaches brought in to Menelick. He won the battles, for example, against King Tekkehaimanot, by attacking him from a side(flank) Teklehaimanot did not anticipate.

In short, intelligence helps plan strategies. Menelick won wars against the south not because he had a higher IQ or was physically stronger, it was because he had the support of Italy and France who provided him with how to gather military intelligence with added advanrage of bullets against spear, sword and arrow equipped southerners.

One story tells of how Menelick was amazed by the mascular and big bicemps of Gurage's Darsamo who entered into a cease fire with Nenelick o end the wars in Gurage.

No. He should not be seen as an Oromo hero. He did not fight for Oromo. He did not have such an idea in him. In fact, Menelick also did not fight for Shewa Amara, other than his father's throne(power) taken by Tewodros and given to Bezabih.

Gobena started out a rebel or shifta because he felt cheated about family fortune inheritance. He ravaged the villages killing and plundering Oromo villages as a lawless shifta.
When he joined Menelick, he rose military fame of a kingdom from an ordinary shifta. He did nothing to honor and privilege Oromos. Rather he hurt countless Oromos before and with Menelick.

Gobana Dache liberated the Wellegans from Mahadist occupations without Gobana Wellega today would be Muslim not Protestant.

Gobana Dache led the peaceful negotiations with the King of Jimma Aba Jifar and the king of Wellega Kumsa Moroda on a peaceful formation of the Ethiopian state. This meant Arsi was the heartland of rebellions not Wellega or Jimma

Your likes are the reason why Gurage stagnated politically and ignored by present Ethiopia.
