The Kingdom of Hadiya was profoundly affected by the Gala migrations during the 16th century. As Gala groups expanded into the region, they entered Hadiya territory, leading to a series of conflicts that weakened the kingdom's political and military strength. The settlement of Gala groups in these areas resulted in Hadiya losing control over much of its territory and marked the beginning of the kingdom's decline.

The Gala invasions also brought significant demographic and cultural changes. Many Hadiya communities were displaced from their ancestral lands, while others remained and gradually became incorporated into Gala society through intermarriage, adoption, and integration under the Gadaa system. At the same time, some Gala settlers adopted aspects of Hadiya culture and local traditions, creating a long-term process of cultural interaction and exchange.

Ultimately, the Gala migrations transformed the Kingdom of Hadiya. The kingdom lost its political independence as Gala groups established themselves across much of its former territory. Although the Hadiya state disappeared, the Hadiya people endured, preserving their identity even under the subjugation Gala settlers.

The Hadiya people deserve their own regional state (ክልል) because they are a distinct nation with their own language, culture, and history. The collapse of the Hadiya Kingdom following the ጋላ expansions of the sixteenth century marked the loss of Hadiya political independence and self-rule, leaving a historical grievance that has never been fully addressed. Establishing a Hadiya regional state would restore political autonomy, strengthen the use of Hadiyyisa in government and education, protect Hadiya cultural heritage, and ensure that the Hadiya people can govern their own affairs on an equal basis with other regional states in Ethiopia.

By the way the then Bale regional city Goba was predominantly Hadiya with Amhara minority before the Galla reach there. Goba is A Hadiya name and thos what I heard from an elderly Hadiya historian.

Queen Eleni, the mother of Emperor Dawit (lll) a.k.a Libne Dengil was Hadiya. She was the daughter of Hadiya king. These shows you Hadiya were of prestigious race and part and parcel of the Abyssinian Kingdom with special autonomy where they pay tax to the center.

I have a feeling that listro Gurages were shoe shining in Goba in 15th century, despite I don't know what type of shoes were there at the time, but listros have no king,.no polity and structural system that was as advanced as Hadiyas.

The successive Gragn invasion followed by the Galla invasion reduced Hadiyas to what they are now. But significant portions of current Gallas in Bale and Arsi are of Hadiya stock.

When Fano comes to power, it should be a moral duty to restore Hadiya where it was before making Arsi and Bale to re-adopt their former identity. As to the listros, best to let Mareqo handle them the way it is handling them now

Let us not talk about Gala acting in Hadiya costume. This YouTuber is original Gala pretending to be Hadiya. The real Hadiy are those that fighting against settlers. You already know Hadiya are fighting against Gala to reclaim so called Wurage areas. There are contested areas between Gala and Hadiya, most of these areas are in Wurage districts. How do you say abou that? Or are you dancing your b.utt off with you Gala master, Abiy Ahmed Ali - Penete convert.

Yes, Queen Eleni was one of the most Queen was from the Hadiya kingdom. Interestingly, the history of Hadiya unlike Wurage was chronicled, not only foreigner writers but also in Kebre Nagest. Before Gala's invasion, the Kingdom of Hadiya was so vast. It had quite many clans that now are absorbed by Gala and many lost their languages to other smaller tribes. Do not forget the Libido (Maraqo) were Hadiya; even groups such as Siltʼe, Wulbareg, Azarnat, Barbare, Wuriro, Wolane and Gadabano are among the 7 Hadiya clans.

It was not just Queen Eleni that married to Amhara ruler dynasty, but many Hadiya were married to Amhara. For instance, in the late sixteenth century, the Hadiya kingdom was overrun by Gala invasions migrations. In 1689, Iyasu's Armenian trade agent, Khodja Murad told the Dutch in Batavia that the king of Hadiya had submitted of his own free will to the rule of Abyssinia, after suffering defeats and displacements by Gala. The chief of Hadiya ‘‘together with his entire people had embraced the Christian religion and married ‘a certain princess from the dynasty of the Abyssinian emperors.

However, there is nothing recorded about Wurage. Only Horus, pastor Odie and dama are breaking fake news and story about Wurage.

The name Hadiya (Arabic equivalent = Hadyah) is ingrained in Islamic faith refers to an unconditional gift given to someone out of love, respect, or affection. The kingdom was welcoming to those coming to the Hadiya empire. This innocence, however, was exploited Gala invasion. Hadiya people's generosity and open welcome of Gala in the 16th century let strangers took their home, land and wealth, displacing from their ancestral land.
