They had general books and some amharic novels. It is heart warming they are making it digital. A generational change. British counsel had better uptodate books that time. Things appear to improve here and there. I like this gov fascination with technology and modernization.

ወመዘክር የነበረው የጤና ሚኒስቴር ፣ ሰንጋ ተራ መግቢያው ላይ ነበር ። ዛሬ ጥቁር አበሳ ሆስፒታል የድሮ ል ዑል መኮንን ሆስፒታል ሳይሰራ ከወመዘክር በግራ በኩል ያለው ሰፊ መሬት ባዶና የኳስ ሜዳ ሁሉ ነበር ። እስከ አገር ግዛት ድረስ ባዶ ድንጋያማ መሬት ነበር ። የትምህርት መጻፍ TMS በቂ ስለነበረን ወመዘክር አውጥቼ አላቅም ። ብሪቲሽ ካውንስ አንዳንድ ፖለቲካ ነክ (what is socialism) መጻህፍት ተውሻለሁ ። እኛ ብዙ የምንጠቀመው ዩኒቨርሲቲ ያለው ኬኔዲ ላይብረሪ ነበር ። በተለይ 12ኛ ሆነን ያንደኛ አመት ፊዚክና ኬሚስትሪ ከኬኔdi ተውሰን ክፍል ውስጥ አስተማሪውን እናስጨንቅ ነበር። የተፈሪ መኮንን አስተማሪዎች ዩኒቨርስቲም ያስተምሩ ስለነበር ደስ ነበር የሚላቸው ከኮሌጅ ፊዚክስ የላብ ትያቄዎች ይዘን ስንመጣ! ኢትዮጵያ ባለውለታችን ታላቅ አገር ነች! ታላቅም ትሆናለች!

I remember i used to go to british council to read the ny times and other daily newspapers. also i used to check out physics book we call bueche. walking as a kid with that huge book in hand was something. folks respect you and treat you like an adult. or so I imagined lol

i never been to wemezeker but some from my class used to go there. i passed by the library inside mazegaja (?) and the line was too long everyday so i just passed. you see the line way from outside.

my main library where i read tons of books is a little known one called american library, not far from shewa dabo. i was always the youngest and the patrons there were buried in them books. they all were professional looking. I credit this library for my foundation.

የኛ ስው የፊዚክስ ነፍስ ቀጣይ አርጎ ያያት የነበረችው? I guess it no more tasks today’s students. Buche followed us to college and they added Zemanski on that and there was a chemistry book too everybody wanted to tear a page out of it to steal or sleep with it.
It is sad to realize those exotic books are written in developed countries, at least in recent pat, but read in developing world. In developed world they simplified the education material for most part you study exam oriented materials in business way. We were pushed to read those books front to back pages!
Is ሽዋ ዳቦ the one on the way too ቄራ? Haha! I have been there too and ate fresh loaves. Never ate that sweat bread in my life. May be childhood memory as everything experienced as child seems sweet

ጂኦሜትሪ (ዩክሊዲያን ጂኦሜትሪ) ፕሩፍ ተፈሪ መኮንን 7ኛ ነው የሰራሁት ፤ ነገር ግ ን ብሪቲሽ ሲስተምና ብሪቲሽ ሂሳብን አልደረኩበትም ። ያን የሰራው ወንድሜ ። እኔ New Math (Set theory) 7ኛ ተማርኩኝ New Math is what you call Number theory (or philosophy of math) ከዚያ በኋላ ያው pre-algebra, geometry, algebra and pre-calculus የሚያስተምሩን

አንተ ያሜሪካን ላይብረሪ የምትለው ማዘጋጃ ቤት ፊት ለፊት የነበረው ፍቆ ያሜሪካ ኢንፎርሜሽን ሴንተር ከሆነ በጣም የማውቀው ቦታ ነው ። ያሜሪካ እስፖርቶች ፊልም እንከራይበት ነበር። አፖሎ ጨረቃ ላይ ሲያርፍ እዚያ ፎቶ እየተለጠፈ እናይ የነበረው !

yes, that’s the one. it’s on the 1st floor. it’s not noticeable for millions who pass by it daily. if you get out of the library and make left right away to go down hill, you will find tele where people used to go to make international calls.
