Elections in Ethiopia have Held the same value as No elections in Eritrea. 
Elections in Ethiopia have long been a joke, as their purpose has never been to bring meaningful change but rather to preserve the same dictatorial regime, much like in Eritrea. Ethiopia was once ridiculed internationally when a U.S. official enthusiastically claimed that the TPLF had “won” 99% of the vote democratically. Since the OLF-PP assumed leadership, the pattern has continued. These elections have been a waste of resources and the people’s time, accompanied by intense harassment. In this sense, elections in Ethiopia have been no different from having no elections at all in Eritrea.
