US State Department Latest Travel Advisory

Post by ittuabafarda » 03 Apr 2026, 18:03

The latest travel advisory by the US State Department should be heeded to the letter. I'm not surprised by the advisory on Ethiopia. That country has been marred by bloody and violent conflicts in its two largest regions and Tigray for years now. Others have been on shaky grounds all along. Congratulations bigots and connivers.

Meanwhile, I want to say this to my very common citizens of Eritrea. I the same advisory your very dear Eritrea has been rated at par with Western European countries like the UK, Germany, France, Spain and the rest of them. That is because you have chosen the peaceful way and patiently resisting the ruthless despots led by Al-Toweel Isu and the gang. Peaceful struggle is a drawn-out process and the trick is not to lose the nerve and you have not lost that. It shows you have not forgotten the death and destruction violent form of struggle can bring to a society. It shows you've gained maturity from those dark days. I have not hidden this from my Eritrean friends who I have known for decades. Hats off to you my dear common citizens of Eritrea except Isu and his gangsters.

Itu,

I’m glad to see you back on this forum. I used to follow the debates between you and Ethoash—who is most likely no longer with us, perhaps even taken out by Fano.

I have always held your comments in high regard, although you seem to have a somewhat sympathetic stance toward OLF. That said, I find your recent thoughts on the travel advisory—treating Eritrea as if it were a safe destination—quite puzzling.

First, very few people actually travel to Eritrea. It remains one of the most isolated and underdeveloped places, far behind in many respects. Second, Eritreans themselves live under severe repression. It’s not that they willingly accept this condition, but rather that they lack the means or opportunity to free themselves from the grip of Shabia. While you were fortunate enough to retire and live a comfortable life, many people of your generation have spent their entire lives in Sawa under indefinite national service—essentially a form of lifelong servitude. That is not heroism; it is coercion.

Moreover, the independence of Eritrea was not purely the result of its own strength or bravery. It was facilitated by the role of TPLF and the miscalculations of others at the time.

Finally, the survival of Shabia is closely tied to internal divisions within Ethiopia. It has long been involved in supporting and influencing groups like OLF, as well as interacting with TPLF. Without ethnic conflict in Ethiopia, Shabia would struggle to sustain itself. In my view, your assessment overlooks this dynamic. Shabia itself has boasted about entrenching long-term divisions within Ethiopia.

You are absolutely right, however, that Ethiopians have become dangerously divided. In my opinion, a major contributing factor is the current leadership and policies that have deepened ethnic-based politics and tensions.

Abebe,

Thank for your thoughtful response. There have been glitches in this forum and my post was not visible and that was why I posted again. I could not see your opinion.

Let’s hope and pray that the old country we all left behind will somehow find peace with itself and for its harmony mongering people. I am a staunch adherent of peaceful struggle for democracy because very recent history of countries such as Chile, South Korea and Taiwan. Somaliland is an exception.

May The Good Lord bring peace to that country so mothers in Tigray, Amhara and Oromia regions will stop wailing for their dead sons and daughters.
Blessings to you and your family.

There is news article from West, Ethiopia civil war will soon escalate , they are seeing Fano great threat. We still have not defined who Fano are, why Fano collaborate with Tplf or Shabia if home grown? Most who grew up in Ethiopia under Tplf as their big brother, are not necessarily fighting for Ethiopia or Amara, but for Tplf to take over again. On the other hand, we see under pp leadership the indigenous peoples of Ethiopia are being sidelined and sustaining liberation fronts including Tplf and foreigners including Arabs. Who would not fight with such policies of pp with fake and dirty capitalism which is actually Illuminati you can't survive in Ethiopia unless you steal!

ethiopianunity,

I hope you have seen and read my previous comments over the years on this and other websites. In all, when the story required, I have spoken against any violent form of struggle to unseat a reigning regime. That is because there hasn't been any armed group that brought a democratic governance after it overthrew a sitting regime since 1776. Not one. The proof is in the pudding. Just look around in that very region. Please note that the leaders of all the current and past armed groups are/were sweet talkers. They know/knew how to feed on the raw emotions of the gullible youth. Once the youth is snagged there is no way out and will be used as cannon fodder and beast of burden by the conniving and bigoted leaders. This is the sad situation in Amhara, Oromia and Tigray regions now. That is why the youth from those regions is running away in all directions in droves and often times being end up into the deadly claws of demonic human traffickers. It has become a 'die trying' one-off option for the desperate youth. Some of the regime's bad behavior doesn't help further the accord either. Also, it aches my heart to see some of us here in our Diaspora fanning the flames already raging in certain parts of the old country from our safe and comfy homes here in USA, Europe and Oceania. This repugnant behavior has lined up their pockets beyond their wildest dreams as merchants of death. They are everywhere on YouTube, X, Facebook and even in the places of worship.
May The Good Lord save that gem of humanity!!!
Blessings to you and your family.

These days, we are all preoccupied with what has been going on between Iran, Israel and USA. As the consequence of the conflict we are feeling the pinch at the pump. Let's hope it will not be as severe as in 1973. But there is another tragedy in the offing that will involve our countrymen and women who live in Lebanon. Let's all of us have them in our prayers and render them any help they need in every way we can. I also call upon all human rights organizations to include these immigrants in their priority list for providing the life saving endeavor. May The Good Lord blanket them from being caught up in the crossfire of this brutal bloody conflict!!! This also includes those who live in the Arabian Peninsula.
