Intuitively, that may seem a good explanation to put the misfortunes of our failed ethnics on those who oppressed us. Similar narratives were floated about Africa's backwardness due to the slave trade or colonization of Africa dwarfed and stagnated to remain underdeveloped which doesn't hold true if Asian countries are considered.
The answer to political underdevelopment of Gurage is due the conscious choice of priority the elites made and the excuses they gave for their "do little or nothing" political initiative. Why they avoided to hear bombs exploding in neighboring Oromo, Tigrey, Somali and Eritrea, now in Amara, is an interesting point of discussion but it will not be complete because the Gurage elites in International Gurage Association, Gurage Roads Construction Organization and Kerta Global will not participate in an open discussion.
