Is Getachew Reda's Semret Party's English statement really trying to downgrade Abiy’s action as merely technical error?
Why did you weaken your English statement if it is translated from the Amharic statement?
Paragraph 1: In the Amharic version you described the decision as “ሕገ- መንግሥታዊ ሥርዓት አልበኝነትን" የሚያውጅ which means declares constitutional lawlessness. The English version just says, “it can be described as constitutional recklessness”. Lawlessness and recklessness are miles apart.
Paragraph 3: In the Amharic version you described the decision as, “የክልል አስተዳደርን በጉልበት የመንጠቅ (Administrative Annexation) ሙከራ ነው።” Although you used the English term ‘Administrative Annexation’ in the Amharic version to exactly describe it in unambiguous ways; in your English translation, you merely describe it as “it prejudices the outcome”. What happened to the gravest transgression of ‘Administrative Annexation’?
