Their primary goal is to reclaim Amhara territories they fallaciously claim as Western Chigray. If Abiyot Ahmed’s forces are bogged down in Amhara region, they may withdraw troops from Welkait, Tegede, and Telemet, enabling Woyanus to retake the areas and reconnect with their militants in Sudan.

Oromuma

The conflict began three years ago when the Oromuma regime moved to disband Amhara’s special forces. Until then, the region had been among the country’s most stable.
