I know, our newly appointed education minister is like a king without a kingdom; she doesn’t have full jurisdiction over the domain she is supposed to administer. However, the fact that we are witnessing a new, young, fresh face among the dinosaur ministers is a breath of fresh air.

#Eritrea has appointed Dr. Halima Mohammed the former Director of Assessment and National Examinations, as the country’s first female Minister of Education marking a historic milestone in the nation’s education sector.
Dr. Halima Mohammed brings decades of experience in education, assessment, and academic leadership. She earned her master’s degree in the United Kingdom and completed her doctorate with great distinction. Fluent in Tigrinya, Saho, Arabic, and English, she began her career as an English-language teacher more than two decades ago.
She is married and a mother of four. From the age of 14, Dr. Halima attended Sewra School under the Eritrean People’s Liberation Front (EPLF), an experience that helped shape her commitment to national service and education.
