ER boneheads, you skipped this question. I have no choice but answer my own question so that you learn the weirdests of Ethiopian history.

1. After the sudden death of Yohannis IV, King of Tigrey at Metema by the Mahdists of Sudan independence front, two Rases of the king each claimed heir to his throne.
One was the king's brother, Ras Hagos and the 2nd one was Ras Alula Engida or nicknamed Ras Alula Abba Nega. Ras Alula, though not related by blood with the king, knowing his brother is as a qualified battle-hardened warrior as himself plus a brother to the king, he insisted he should inherit Yohannis's throne. The brother, Ras Hago said no you must be crazy. So they settled to end the dispute in a full battle field.

In that one day battle, both were wounded but Ras Hagos' wounds were heavier than those of Alula'. Ras Hagos died that very day while Ras Alula died of his wounds a month later.

If anyone of them survived the battle and would certainly inherite YohanisIV's throne togethe with his mighty army, Menelick would not have been emperor of Ethiopia but King of Shewa only.

The year was February 1897.

To me what made it weird is the attitude of Ras Alula Abba Nega to usurp the throne out of the family of YohannisIV. Inexcusable.

Would this have happened in Shewa between Ras Gobena and Ras Darge if both lived after the death of Menelick? Ras Darge was a cousin of Menelick whereas Ras Gobena was Menelick's most trusted warrior from Oromo.

2. Wedajo Gobena (son of Gobana Dacche) refused to have his son, Wasan Seged Wedajo, educated at Emperor Menelik II's court, despite Menelik II wanting him raised as heir, a conflict that led to Wedajo's divorce from Menelik's daughter, Shoarega, and ultimately removed Wasan from succession.

It's shocking that a father would harm his son's future for some egotistical reason, conflict with his father-inlaw, his wife and lose his marriage.

3. Merid Wedajo, one of the sons of Dejazmach Wedajo Gobena, was killed by Silte natives (people from the Silte Zone). This occurred during a military campaign or conflict in the late 19th century when his grandfather, Ras Gobena Dache, was fighting with the Silte people as part of Emperor Menelik II's southern expansion. What can be more glorious than this!!
