Berhanu Nega, a Bona Fide Holder of a PhD and a Professor being Lectured by a 7th Grade Drop-out Charlatan

Life is a beeeech. How humuliating must it be for Berhanu Nega to listen and clap to the idiotic bubblings of an illiterate dimwit!

Berhanu Nega has one of the worst jobs in the country. Even if he was appointed Minister of [Mis]Education by the grace of the tyrant, his role includes listening to the boring and repetitive lectures of his boss. He must clap anyway, following the rhythms of the cadres and the howlers of the regime.

The latest lecture took place at Addis Ababa University. The guest lecturer was none other than Abiy Ahmed. The theme of the lecture was the amazing “qualities of intellectuals.”

“Intellectuals are truth seekers.” Clap. “An intellectual is committed to prosperity.” Clap. “An intellectual is a deep thinker.” Clap. “An intellectual is a problem-solver…” Clap! Clap! Clap! These days, intellectuals are often the best pretenders, feigning that they know it all.

This is how a freedom fighter turned accomplice of injustice has rewritten his own story of resistance against tyranny and oppression. We should advocate freedom for Berhanu Nega—a prisoner of conscience of his own making. He cannot criticize his boss. He can only clap and dance calypso when the tyrant speaks and sneezes.
