Hebrew Channel Reveals The Cost Of Tel Aviv’s Recognition Of Somaliland

Israeli Channel 14 reported that Israel’s recognition of Somaliland came in exchange for absorbing Gaza’s population.
On Friday, the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially announced Israel’s recognition of the Republic of Somaliland, describing the move as historic.
The channel noted that the announcement, drafted in the style of the “Abraham Accords,” includes the establishment of full diplomatic relations and strategic cooperation in various fields, claiming that “Somaliland will absorb Gaza’s population in return for this recognition.”
Netanyahu, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, and the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, signed a joint statement. Netanyahu congratulated President Abdullahi and invited him to make his first official visit of its kind to Israel.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, who spoke with President Abdullahi, said that relations had been consolidated over the past year through ongoing dialogue. Sa’ar stated: “Today we signed a mutual recognition agreement and established full diplomatic relations, including the appointment of ambassadors and the opening of embassies.” He instructed his ministry to begin immediate coordination.
In addition to security and political cooperation, Israel intends to immediately expand cooperation with Somaliland in key civilian sectors, including agriculture and technology—through the transfer of Israeli expertise and the development of joint projects—as well as strengthening healthcare systems and expanding trade between the two sides.
