Eritrea is so weak economically, demographically and militarily, it has decided to hand over the port of Asab to poor and destitute Arab Muslim Egypt. It is an economics fact that the poor opportunist Egyptians will not invest millions of dollars on port Asab that no one nation is going to use and utilize. Egyptians are not that stupid to pour any concrete on a port that no one wants to use for business.
It is very sad indeed to be Eritrean, because the port had been idle and crumbling in the last 27 years of no benefit to Eritreans. The port of Asab becomes useful only if Ethiopians use it. Knowing this full well, the Chinese and the Russians have rejected every offer the Eritrean regime had made to lease for the port.
The only reason the decision Eritrea made for, if the news is true, is not to benefit Eritreans but to force Ethiopia to sign a Nile agreement that humiliates it and in the long run to attack, dismantle and weaken Ethiopia.
