What are the costs of Gurage's failure to adapt to changes in Ethiopian politics? No researches have documented it but I will give opinion on it.

Imam Hasen Injamo and his small tribe of Qebena , a tiny minority of 1.8% of Gurage are living in 6 villages in Abeshge Wereda of Gurage. Their population is around 24,000.

Imam Hassen Injamo was a religious leader, not a political ruler, who became known only after he began resisting Menelick.

To my understanding, he was recruited by Imam Omar Beqsa of Chaha to resist Menelick. Imam Omara Beqsa, hailing from a much larger tribe and with more resources and more soldiers than Imam Hasssen, he was obviously the man to call who made most decisions. Gurage Christians want to delete this history just to say to their Amara masters " Shame on us we Gurages did not fight Emmiye Menelick".

They Qebena are related to Alaba in language, not Hadiya. Alaba doesn't like Hadiya, but neighbors. They dance like Silte, not like Hadiya. They used to speak semitic language. Now, Kushitic. Fought a bloody war against Hadya Zone prior to 2018 to separate from it.

The Qebena were displaced by the Oromo migration in the north direction. Migrated to Chah. Chaha wad repelling Oromo at the time. Still found time to unseat them, by continuously harassing them. This may have reduced the number of Qebena land thieves on our lands. Their folklore is all about the misery they suffered by the hands of Chaha when they tried to steal its lands.

That said, at that time Chaha was repelling the Oromo incursion, and repelled it with some success. The Qebena migrating herd saw some chance to settle on Chaha land while it was busy battling the Oromo incursion to its territory.

The violence in Gurage is different from other wars in Ethiopia.
