Fiyameta, pls don't attack me. I am only looking to expose causes for Eritrea's economic backwardness and political immaturity.
Eritrea nationalism is a historical anomaly
In the history of nation-state developments, Karl Marx observed that it was capitalism that developed nationalism. Manufacturing and services capitalism. In their efforts to grow their capital, capitalists looked out for markets from where consumers could buy their goods and services. In this process of capitalist expansion to regions outside of the capital head quarters , they created a common identity of people with similar or identical life needs. Therefore, a common culture. A common world view of people, with a common language by which the goods and services were explained. Necessarily, therefore, the language of the capitalists.
Eritrea has never produced manufactured goods and services. Eritrea has not had natiinal capitalists. However, the Eritrean nationalism is before our eyes for all to see. Its development remains unexplained, unresearched. It's a mystery for lack of a better word.
