Abiy was NOT the true target, the whole show was about hurting Ethiopia. Why then target Abiy covertly? His only crime was his determination to pull Ethiopia out of poverty and decades of dehumanizing begging culture. They said it explicitly when the man brought about the issue of MEGA to the discussion, where Getachew never felt about what is the problem could be in making one's country great (again). That revealed how and why he has still where he comes from at the heart, the same TPLF that hated Ethiopia and still managed to rule over Ethiopia for about 30 years.

it is the continuation of long held standpoint that Ethiopia should be kept small, never to be great again!

That was the stand that led the world to deny Ethiopia to arm herself in a self-defense in the face of advancing fascist imperial regime of Europe to conquer Ethiopia. Ethiopia managed to keep her independence and free of colonial bondage. That was a constant source of thorn in the mud to them and now they get a nightmare at the idea of Ethiopia Made Great Again. They exposed themselves.
