Can someone deliver some technicality of hydrology?

The accusation is superfluous, to put it mildly, and I am not sure if the accuracy of satellite imagery can be used to label an accusation against somebody on an international stage. I also fail to understand the reason why Ethiopia would release or hold water at random ("abruptly", like they put it) in such high volume or if such an operation is even sound for some technical reason(s).
Well, if I am asked, as a private citizen, I care less if it is "hydrologically sound or unsound", it can be even used as a leverage in the future (if it works), every time the man of Cairo take a flight to his old slave on the Ethiopian current northern border.
https://english.ahram.org.eg/News/557329.aspxThe ministry described this pattern as “hydrologically unsound,” noting that Ethiopia reduces outflows to maximise storage and raise water levels, then abruptly releases large volumes far exceeding operational needs, rather than discharging gradually as international best practice requires.
