A Kenyan politician specializing in foreign relations and security put it bluntly:
It is Ethiopia that stands accused of irredentism.
He added that Addis Ababa now finds itself increasingly isolated — with virtually every major actor, from the US and Saudi Arabia to China, the Arab League, and multiple African states — telling Ethiopia that its approach is unacceptable, leaving the country on the defensive diplomatically.

He stressed that it is perfectly normal for a landlocked state to seek sea access through bilateral agreements with its neighbours — Eritrea, Djibouti, or Somalia. But it becomes an entirely different matter when a country starts entertaining the idea of seizing territory by force, imposing a naval base, and projecting military power at the expense of its neighbours. According to him, even Ethiopia’s closest partners have made it clear: this path is beyond the pale.

There was a brief clash along the Ethiopian – Kenyan border near Moyale, involving the ENDF and Kenyan troops. What is happening?
