A killer and unknown disease has emerged in Ethiopia!
Six people have died in Jinka town in the past three to four days due to an undiagnosed disease.
In an incident that has shocked the entire town, it has been reported that Jinka Qalahiwot Church ministers, a doctor and a nurse have died after contracting the disease.
An unnamed health worker working at Jinka Hospital confirmed the incident, saying that there are currently three patients in the hospital and many who have had contact with the patients.
"We are in a state of panic. The disease has been detected in a drug-resistant E-coli strain. It requires further testing to determine whether it is Ebola or not," he said.
"All of the deceased were in contact with the first patient who died, and they all showed the same symptoms, and the disease can lead to death within three to five days," the health expert said, adding that this has caused everyone to be overwhelmed with fear.
He added, "For example, the doctor who was treating the patient a week ago passed away. Since there are many other people in the area who had contact with him, the regional health office and the Ministry of Health should disclose important information to the public to take necessary precautions."
It was learned that the deceased were bleeding from their mouths and noses.
"Due to this repeated death of people, the people of Jinka town are in deep shock and grief, and we urge the regional health office and the Public Health Institute to pay special attention to this," he said.
Among the deceased is Inspector Wondmagane Ceneke, a former employee of the Ari Zone Police Department, the Jinka Police announced.
In this regard, Dr. Mistri Hamdekin, CEO of Jinka Hospital, declined to provide further information, stating that an investigation is underway to confirm the deaths.
