South African Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma voiced her feelings of shock when she became African Union's chairperson and discovered that 97% of funding to the organization comes from foreign donors, particularly the EU and individual European states. So long as the AU is headquartered in Ethiopia where 97% of the government's budget comes from foreign aid, the AU will continue to serve the interests of foreign donors.

Johannesburg - African Union (AU) commissioner Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has been shocked to learn that western donors fund nearly all the continental body's programmes, Business Day reported on Monday.

“No liberated mind can think their development agenda can be funded by donors,” Dlamini-Zuma told a Business Unity SA banquet in her honour at the weekend. “Over 97 percent of programmes in the AU are funded by donors.

“We should be more self-reliant. Our governments must put money there [in the AU],” she said.

She said donors were even footing the bill for African institutions to develop the continent's strategic agenda, a fundamental task in what has been called the African century.

The rocketing value of mineral resources in the past decade had given Africa the unprecedented opportunity to shape its own future.

Yes indeed, bro!
There are many justifiable reasons that the inept and corruptible AU organization should be disbanded and replaced by an organization chosen by genuine African leaders who have no connection with money laundering, financial organizations, or countries.
Look at what the shamefully AU has done to the ongoing wars in the Sudan and other African countries! What about when the ምትሩስ ወዲ በሻሻ openly declared war threats not only against Eritrea, but against the UN Charter and, amazingly, against its own charter! Sometimes I wonder if the African leaders believe in any human rights values, or are they dumber than the Prime Minister of Oromuma?
