Dire Dawa Police Attempt Raid After Youth Challenges False Historical Claims.
According to verified video footage, police in Dire Dawa launched a raid on the home of a young Somali man who had recently spoken publicly in the Amharic language condemning the false historical claim that Dire Dawa was once part of Oromia.
As seen in the footage, police officers attempted to arrest him, but resisting residents quickly gathered and blocked the arrest. The confrontation escalated into a tense standoff between the community and the police, who were eventually forced to withdraw without succeeding in detaining the young man.
Community members described the attempted arrest as part of a wider campaign to intimidate and silence Somalis who speak the truth about the city’s history and identity.
The continued intimidation and pressure against the Somali community in Dire Dawa following the false historical narrative promoted by the highest authority of the Ethiopian government is deeply concerning.
We call upon the United Nations, international human rights organizations, and the global community to closely monitor the situation in Dire Dawa and hold Ethiopian authorities accountable for any violations committed against citizens for expressing historical truth.
This campaign of misinformation and harassment appears to have begun at the highest levels of government, after the Prime Minister himself made a fabricated historical statement about the status and identity of Dire Dawa.
Such actions not only distort Ethiopia’s history but also endanger peace, coexistence, and mutual respect among its peoples.
Mariamawit’s warning is hauntingly clear: Abiy turns on everyone who once stood beside him, playing allies against each other until none are left. Those who think they are safe today will soon learn that no one escapes the fire he himself has lit. Abiy Ahmed Ali is the most demonic, blood-thirsty leader ever to have assumed the mantle of power in Ethiopian history!
The ogre from Beshasha has no parallel.

Potemkin Party (PP) trolls feign annoyance, get into hysterical commotion, and disparage Eritrea's routine diplomatic activities and/or Presidential visits to some country. And they have the audacity to portray Eritrea as a "lackey and doing the bidding of" some foreign country; these days, the tantrum is on "Eritrea-Egypt" ties!
Need to remind them to swallow these dosage of reality in historical terms. Indeed:
* It is the Ethiopian regime which solicited the diplomatic and political clout of the US to suppress Eritrea's right of decolonization in the 1940s. The overwhelming historical evidence on these machinations have since long been available in the public domain.
*Ethiopian regimes relied on US and Israeli military and technical support in the first decades; and on USSR (and Allies) massive military support in the later decades in their attempts to defeat Eritrea's thirty year war of national liberation. This is yesterday's history, fresh in the minds of the contemporary generation (including Gen Z) and that cannot be whimsically erased or wished away.
*Even these days, the Potemkin Party relies heavily on massive international development assistance; opaque ties of dependence on some countries; and IMF bailouts as it pursues belligerent, reckless and unlawful policies against its neighbour under the agenda of "sovereign access to the sea".
Eritrea's policy choices of self-respect and political independence are otherwise well known to merit elaboration.
