Christian God and the god of waqafena priest Naga Tuma!
Christianity and Waaqeffanna (worship of Waaqaa in Oromo culture) differ significantly in both theology and practice. Here's a concise comparison:
1. Gods Worshiped
Christianity: Christians worship God as described in the Bible, in the form of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). They believe in a personal, relational, and transcendent God.
Waaqeffanna: Waaqeffanna centers on the worship of Waaqaa, a supreme god believed to be both transcendent and immanent. Waaqaa is often viewed as the creator of the universe and the source of all life, but the concept is not identical to the Christian God.
2. Can Christians Worship Waaqaa?
Christians are generally discouraged from worshiping any entity other than the Christian God. Waaqeffanna’s practices and the understanding of Waaqaa diverge from Christian doctrine, which emphasizes exclusive worship of the Christian God.
3. Rituals and Pagan Elements
Christianity: Christian rituals are centered around prayer, sacraments, and worship through church services. These are seen as a means to connect with God through Christ and the Holy Spirit. Rituals include communion, baptism, and the liturgy.
Waaqeffanna: Waaqeffanna has its own set of rituals, such as prayers, offerings, and celebrations tied to nature and the cycles of life. It often involves sacrifices (such as animals) and community gatherings. The rituals can be seen as more nature-centric compared to Christian practices.
Christianity views Waaqeffanna rituals as pagan and possibly idolatrous, especially if they involve sacrifices or symbolic representations of Waaqaa.
4. Harms According to Christian Tenets
From a Christian perspective, engaging in Waaqeffanna could be seen as spiritually harmful. Christianity teaches that worshiping anything other than God (i.e., idols or other deities) is a violation of the First Commandment. Thus, Christians might view Waaqeffanna as a form of false worship.
Furthermore, rituals like animal sacrifices might be regarded as incompatible with the Christian ethical teachings of love, compassion, and the sanctity of life.
In summary, the worship of Waaqaa in Oromo culture is not the same as Christian worship of God. Christianity condemns practices outside of its own doctrine, viewing them as idolatrous or pagan, and generally believes that such rituals are spiritually harmful.

Re: Christian God and the god of waqafena priest Naga Tuma!
This post is by no means to despise oromo culture or Oromos. My problem is with current oromo ethnofascists that calll themselves Oromuma and trying to create a new waqa centered political religion called Oromuma alienating any Oromo or other Ethiopians, who believes in christianity or even islam by saying these are imported religions. They abuse thier new religion for political power build, division and war mongoring. Religion is an individual right and it should be switched off politics and not be used to foment chaos. Although I wish everybody to be christ’s discipline, the choice is the right of the individual. An individual has God given right to choose what to believe in as far as abides the law of the land without encroaching on others right.

Somebody who heard that I disliked onion or ቁሉቢ when I was a young boy joked ቃሉ ተኡፊ?
As a young student, my wish and at least two other people’s projections was that I would become a Professor.
Somebody on this forum once mistakenly referred me as a Professor.
As I grew older, I wished to become a scientist.
Studying about our region’s history and our people’s culture during my spare time has had me become a Renaissance man.
By definition, a Renaissance man becomes one out of the flaws of the teachings of Christianity. So, people like you lecturing a Renaissance man about Christianity or other religions is very much an amusing matter. It is utterly childish since Renaissance men of centuries ago were much more grown up about it.
Knowing the depth of spirituality of most other Ethiopians, it puzzles me a great deal how you make it a utilitarian matter instead of a spiritual matter.
Even though I haven’t gone to a church since 1992, I have remained faithful to an almighty.
I know the organic meanings of both Waqa and God.
My understanding is that although there may be fragments of spiritual memories in what is now called Waaqeffanna, the name is meaningless to me because Waqa is an inanimate matter whereas by definition, the almighty could not be.
A long time ago, a group of interested believers in Waqa invited me to attend a regular meeting online. I don’t recall if it was discontinued or I quit. I remember suggesting changing the name to something meaningful. I am unsure if the Borana ever used the word Waaqeffanna.
I was also invited to attend a Waaqeffanna conference in Washington, D.C. many years ago.
I have no idea where it stands at this time.
My recent writings on this forum about የኢትዮጵያ ቃሉዎች እና ቃልቻዎች is only to inform my intuition and curiosity about them.
A long time ago, I wrote on this forum ዘጭ ትላለህ regarding my wonders about the mysterious ways in which the almighty works.
While I have no conviction to any particular theology, I am a convinced human being that the almighty is omnipresent unless I am proven otherwise by any one on this planet.
Just recently, I have shared on this forum two instances of miraculous happenstances.
One of them was a case of instantly discrediting Fed_Up miraculously whereas the other was instantly discrediting you as Horus miraculously.
You should go back and read very carefully and closely what I wrote before you posted a video clip in which Dr. Sileshi Bekele was speaking and the unbelievable story I shared after that.
In my opinion, your failure to grasp it would be a colossal mistake because this may be a serious spiritual matter for the nation.
A simple question to ask in this one instance is if there was a transgression against a citizen with innocent intentions. If yes, how could a rare visit years ago miraculously become a source of amending the citizen’s legacy.
Given that there are more of such miraculous happenstances, the prudent thing to do promptly is to bring to the attention of spiritual leaders and get help about what explains them if it is not the mysterious ways of the omnipresent.
In this particular case, assuming that you may be able to reach the Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, since you authoritatively wrote here about Christianity, or any religious leader any where in the world, you should seek advice if they say it is not miraculous or if they can explain it away.
Since I am the primary source of noticing these mysteries, I would be more than happy to share further details about each instance.
My comments here aren’t directly about your comparison of the two theologies. They are rather about a universal almighty of higher priority because of the miraculous happenstances.

Why I say that is people with too much education usually get lost in the weeds of humanly/secular knowledge and cosmic mysteries unless Jesus, the son of God opens up their eyes to see spiritually. Spiritual things are not of mind but they are of spirit. Christians believe the material world and all cosmos are brought to existence because of the spiritual realm. Unless you open up your heart and mind to God, you won’t understand it by your secular knowledge. Christianity is an experience. The closer you humbly come to God, you know deep things about him. You receive the Holly spirit real time that lets you know deeper things about God. St. paul says there are many gods and many lords in the world but for us we have only on God, the father, the spirit and the son. Christians are not allowed to worship anything outside that. That is the God who said he made the universe and worshipping anything outside that is idolatry. Jesus died for our sins because we all were going our humanly ways; he did that to restore us back to God’s way and to holiness in him not by our deeds. This can only be understood by faith although wisdom may help to understand. I do know many pagan cultures or traditional rituals from all over the world, from ethiopia, and where I came from but the christian God is different.
Having said that I share with you the same feeling of love for science being a good professor. If you have achieved to be one or both, congratulations as a fellow ethiopian, I place my pen for you in respect. Gender dissociation and many degenerate things started to take a root apparently threatening to usher their empire decline visa vis rising eastern mystique culture and economy. It is only now they began to realize their crisis and beginning to search their christian root and moral compass.
If humans are going to be destroyed, on dangerous way will be by their own so called scientific achievements or civilization and complete removal of God from society and decline in moral values. Science, wealth and wisdom alone, without moral compass and the need for universal God, which is the christian God, are likely to corrupt and fail sooner or later. Humans are spiritual beings.

The majority, almost none, even Borena who is the birth of Oromo are all converts of British designed Oromo speaking and culture that is in Kenya. To divide Ethiopia , they smuggled in Oromo language and culture during the era of Turk Gragn Ahmed when Ethiopians were weak. So currently, those who call themselves Oromo are in fact have virus of indoctrination since 16th century, currently eating up ancient Christians. In fact, you could say none of those Oromos are true Oromos but virus called Tplf and Shabians holding hostage the Oromos. Almost all OMN media are under cover Tplf and Shabians pausing as Oromos. Even Borena is the number one Ethiopian than any region. They have been paying price: killed, their cattle's that is major economy have been stolen and sold to Arabs, starved, when Borena refused to give in to Tplf, Tplf displaced them using Guji-Kenyan Oromos attacking them Boranas were forced to flee to Kenya. Currently Gujis are sitting on the land of Borenas true Ethiopian Borenas are refugees in Kenya. PP as servant of Tplf and Shabia is continuing this injustice.Odie wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025, 17:27Christianity and Waaqeffanna (worship of Waaqaa in Oromo culture) differ significantly in both theology and practice.
