In respect of GERD Meles‘s role must be upheld. He was regarded as a good father of God GERD and as a leader of the pioneering campaign to bring faith and vision to life. For this, he is remembered and respected by more than 120 million Ethiopians — regardless of any change of government or political shift. He lives on in the spirit and in the heart of Ethiopia.

It is true that many of Meles‘s political decisions carried negative consequences. His ethnic-based policies have left deep scars and remain at the root of many of Ethiopia’s wars and political challenges today. We cannot deny this legacy. Yet, at the same time, we must also acknowledge his role in advancing Ethiopia’s politics and economy. He was the leader who put into practice the vision of his predecessor, laying the foundation for the very buildings of GERD that are now being inaugurated.

To ignore his legacy is as obvious as denying that one plus one equals two. While I personally disagree with many of his policies, I still thank Meles Zenswu for his contributions. He must be respected, he must be remembered, and he must also be recognized as a good father of God of GERD.

It is disappointing that no pictures were shown, no journalists, no politicians mentioned his name during the inauguration. This silence is not only a shame but also a loss for us all. We cannot build truth by constructing buildings while ignoring the truth itself.

Today is a day to remember Melese Zenawi in a positive way.

I remember there was a big controversy about that. Haile deserved that or more for his contribution of African independence. Yea, I also asked why GERD was built in Benshangul, not in Amhara region. May be some one with water eng idea knows if that had scientific value. But can not rule out conspiracy too! Everything Meles and TPLF did was against Amhara ethnic as they posited Amhara their class enemy and demise only OPDO to come and destroy them. Amhara infact was amicable to them but they still hated and wanted to destroy it.

But What the hell is Benashengol? The Weyannies might as well be creative and declare it the Tigray region.
I have visited Bahir Dar, lake Tana and the Nile fall in 2018. The fall is a short distance from Bahirdar. They might as well call Bahir Dar the capital of Benashengol.
