How come Eritrea overal Gdp is lower then Somaliland unrecognised country

Post by Zack » 05 Sep 2025, 17:41

Somaliland (Self‑declared but internationally unrecognized)
Nominal GDP (2024): Approximately $7.2 billion
Wikipedia
.
GDP per capita (2024): Around $1,600
Wikipedia
.
An alternate source offers higher estimates—for example, GDP of $11.58 billion (2025) and GDP per capita $1,561 (2024)
Teknopedia
—but this figure appears less widely cited or more speculative.
Eritrea (UN‑recognized)*
Nominal GDP (2023): Roughly $2.3 billion
FocusEconomics
Wikipedia
.
GDP per capita (2023): Around $567
FocusEconomics
.
According to 2021 estimates:
Nominal GDP: $2.22 billion
GDP per capita: $626
Wikipedia
.
Side‑by‑Side Comparison
Metric Somaliland (2024 est.) Eritrea (2023 est.)
Nominal GDP ~$7.2 billion ~$2.3 billion
GDP per capita ~$1,600 ~$567
Somaliland’s economy is estimated to be about three times larger than Eritrea’s in nominal terms, and its GDP per capita is nearly three times higher.
Context & Caveats
Somaliland is an autonomous region that declared independence from Somalia but lacks widespread international recognition. As such, its GDP figures are not consistently published in global institutional datasets and rely on domestic estimates
Wikipedia
Teknopedia
.
Eritrea is recognized internationally, with data accessible via sources like FocusEconomics and the IMF; however, formal transparency and reporting in Eritrea remain limited
FocusEconomics
Wikipedia
.
Summary
Based on the available data:
Somaliland has a nominal GDP of around $7.2 billion and a per capita income of about $1,600.
Eritrea has a nominal GDP approximately $2.3 billion and a per capita income near $567.
These figures indicate that Somaliland’s economy is substantially larger and more affluent on a per-person basis compared to Eritrea.

It’s not because Somaliland is Richer then Eritrea infact Eritrea has far more resources and gold and other sort of minerals. And more farm land .Somaliland has only livestock but Somaliland has an open market and they have brought investment to their Ports , where as Eritrea potential is there but because of wedi afom the country is under stagnation. Somaliland if u bring investment from any other country the goverment there wont stop you . As long as u Employ more then 65 percent locals in Eritrea an Eritrean bussinessman isn’t allowed to invest in his own country there Arent any private owned companies I suppose

Do you really think the skunis are going to reply to your legitimate questions....In their typical defend mechanism, they might raise Woyane, Cia, Mossad, Jihadists every thing between the sky and earth..

Eritrea is held destitute by design.

Jealous Agame scumbag, he has the nerve to compare Eritrea with Somalia, stupid Agame, Northern Somalia is the richest region in Somalia, It is home to a wider array of mineral resources ranging from uranium, iron ore, tin, gypsum, bauxite, copper, manganese, coal, gold, cobalt, lithium, molybdenum, beryllium, oil, natural gas and many more.

I can't believe the scumbag just said that Eritrea has more farm land than northern Somalia, where are Eritrean farmland and minerals located? Eritrea has potash in Afar region, nothing else.

Agame scumbag tell us more about Eritrea natural resources, farm land and their locations.

It appears they are currently preoccupied with the transfer of new castles Alexander Isaac to Liverpool, and thus prefer to discuss any topic other than Eritrea and its pressing economic and infrastructural challenges.
