NEW RELEASE As mandated by Congress, the U.S. Department of State annually reviews human rights conditions in nearly 200 countries and territories, drawing from a variety of credible, fact-based sources, including reporting from government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and media to compile the Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, also known as the Human Rights Report.
