Intrusion of foreign words into another language is normal in two scenarios:
1. When the intruder word comes from a language that has been dominant
2. When the native language did not have a word appropriate for a situation.

But, as the Gurage language grows in use, its vocabulary size grows and popularity of Amharic and English decline , these loaned foreign words will be redundant and slolw die out.

My fear is this is a politically motivated move giving birth to esperanto kind of language! I am sure it will have its own hiccups as each zone has its own well developed local dialect and the new tongue will creat confusion. Congratulations to ethnonationalists. I would prefer people to study english early and one national language that is Amharic and keep their own local dialect. Also the gurage esperanto should be tested in each zone to find out its acceptability and utility before full introduction into the already failed education system!

All nations in Ethiopia have taught their languages since 1991, big and small, from Somali, Sidama, Afar, Oromo, Tigrey to the smallest Harari and Anuak. Television and radio broadcasts in their languages. Bible and Quran in their languages.
Silte has been using its language in gov and media for the ladlst 24 years. Welene like wise. No more suppression of languages as you implied that Gurage is disowning Amara or disrespecting Amara. It's just a natural thing for nations to pray in their languages, to learn in their languages, be governed in their languages, to talk to each other in their labguages, to do business in their languages. No one is creating a language by force. All Gurage dialect groups agreed to form a common written language. For now, that common language and the dialects use the Geez syllabic alphabets.

In Ethiopia, the users of Geez fidels are minority. Majority of them use Latin alphabets. Examples are Oromo, Harari, Somali, Afar, Sidama, Hadiya, Kembata, Anuak and Nuer, Welaita, Gamu, Dorze. Earlier, all the above used Geez alphabets without choice.

The future of Geez fidels is not shiny. As the empire of Ethiopia gets deconstructed more and more, as the struggle for the political freedoms of Ethiopian nations strengthens more and more, the choice for alphabets to write their languages is becoming an inalienable right of the nations.

For good reasons: Amharic and Geez use of abugida to make vowels, good for Dravidian languages of India, is wrong as semitic languages. They are supposed to use abjad used in the north and south semitic languages.

Why? Who chose abugida for Geez? Imposed on it.
