actually they confident of their ethnic background their language is tigrinya , they are called Tigrinyan , even when we are refering to the two peoples we call it tigrinya tigray people. u are called after ur province and they are called after their language , Eritrea is the national identity similar to u refering ur self as an Ethiopian. So u dont refer ur self as part of ur own ethnic back ground., u refer ur self after a province that was created in and around 17 century , what did u call ur self before that.

People of Switzerland, Austria, and luxumberg speaks German and share the same culture but they dont identity themselves as Germany hence you argument is wrong.
Tigrians believe that they are Ethiopians and we dont...End of the story.
