Egypt, Eritrea FMs discuss strengthening bilateral ties, cooperation

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty and his Eritrean counterpart, Osman Saleh, emphasized the importance of building on the tangible progress achieved in bilateral relations and political consultation between the two nations and further strengthening cooperation across various fields.

This came during a phone call on Thursday between FM Abdelatty and his Eritrean counterpart to follow up on the distinguished relations between their two countries.

The call aligns with the directives of Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki to strengthen the bonds of cooperation.

During the call, both sides discussed several regional issues of mutual interest, foremost among them is the situation in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.

Both ministers affirmed the importance of continuing joint coordination to enhance security and stability the region.

For his part, Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s commitment to supporting Eritrea’s efforts aimed at achieving development, especialy its development projects, and maintaining stability.

The call comes days after President El-Sisi received Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud at Alamein City, where they discussed bilateral relations and consulted on issues related to regional security and stability.
