ERITREAN POLICE REPORT: A 21 year old member of the Eritrean Defense forces, and a 16 year old high school student, found a bag containing 193,590 Nakfa (13,000 US Dollars) cash and turned it to the local police department.

It should be noted that, last year, a father of 4 children found $15,000 US dollars in lost cash and turned it to the police, however since no one came forward to claim the money within a year, the police handed the money over to the father in accordance to Eritrean laws.

The vast majority of Eritreans are honest about returning lost money or property, in line with the country's centuries-old culture that encourages honesty and altruistic behavior, and discourages lying or taking something that doesn't belong to you.
