Ethiopia does not own the facelifts of Addis Abeba

For Ethiopia to own the real estate properties and the roads rebuilt, it has to buy them back from UAE. As of now, Ethiopia only provided the lands. UAE pays for the redesign and construction of the buildings and the roads directly to the consulting architects and engineers and the construction companies.
Ethiopia also does not supervise or inspect design or construction of the projects. Neither does Ethiopia audit expenditures spent on the facelifts of Addis.
Parliament raised this concern about the erosion of the sovereign rights of Ethiopia to audit grand projects of this kind as it did audit the GERD.
