The Real Reason Eritrea Is Targeted: A Legacy of Sovereignty and a Threat to the Global Financial Order

A Nation Under Siege or a Nation Standing Tall?

As Eritrea prepares to celebrate its hard-earned independence, there is an eerie pattern unfolding: U.S. officials renew hostile rhetoric, think tanks recycle the same old accusations, and mainstream media paints a grim portrait of Eritrea's leadership. The question is: why now? And more importantly, what are they so afraid of?

To truly understand this geopolitical drama, we must step beyond headlines and into history—into the chambers of European bankers, the corridors of the IMF, and the rituals of empire. For Eritrea, this isn't just a story of sanctions or military pressure. It is a story of defiance against centuries-old systems designed to keep African nations in check.

The Quiet Rebellion – Saying No to IMF Means Saying No to Empire

In 1993, Eritrea emerged from a 30-year war of liberation. Unlike many nations born from the fire of revolution, Eritrea didn’t rush to join the global financial system. Instead, it rejected IMF and World Bank loans, choosing to build from within.

This wasn’t a simple economic decision—it was a rejection of the Rothschild-connected financial empire that has, for generations, used debt as a form of soft colonization. Books like The Creature from Jekyll Island detail how global financial institutions were designed not to uplift nations, but to control them. By saying no to IMF, Eritrea said no to the bankers behind the curtain.

It was a revolutionary act.

Same Playbook, New Target – From Gaddafi to Isaias Afwerki

What followed Eritrea's independence mirrored what happened to any leader who dared to think differently. Sanctions, isolation, and smear campaigns. The same blueprint used against Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi or Venezuela’s Hugo Chávez now unfolds against President Isaias Afwerki.

General Michael Langley’s 2024 congressional testimony focused not on direct threats, but on Eritrea’s growing ties to Russia—a narrative reminiscent of Cold War fear-mongering. This framing is a smokescreen. The real issue is that Eritrea operates outside of U.S. control. It has no AFRICOM base. No Western aid dependency. No IMF debt. That is what makes it dangerous.

And so, the campaign to delegitimize Eritrea continues.

The Hidden Timing – Weaponizing Independence Celebrations

Each year, as May approaches, Eritreans prepare to honor their freedom. And each year, like clockwork, negative headlines appear. This is not accidental.

This psychological warfare seeks to dampen national pride and provoke internal dissent. What better way to hijack a people's joy than to cast their leadership in darkness during their most sacred celebration?

Instead of recognizing Eritrea’s miracle—beating colonialism and building sovereignty without aid—the West labels it a "hermit kingdom." But Eritrea has given up much, and still stands. That endurance frightens global elites because it proves another path is possible.

President Isaias – The Most Misunderstood Leader in Africa

Rarely is President Isaias included in the pantheon of respected African leaders. But why? He has avoided dependency traps. Built nationwide infrastructure from scratch. Protected Eritrea’s sovereignty without selling off its assets or resources.

He refuses to glamorize leadership or seek Western approval. His low profile and stoic governance are seen as authoritarian only because they do not cater to neoliberal ideals of democracy—where elections are held, but outcomes are bought.

Isaias Afwerki is feared, not for tyranny, but for vision. The vision of an Africa that needs no IMF loans. An Africa that cannot be bribed. An Africa that can think for itself.

Why Eritrea Must Be Defended

Eritrea’s stance is not just a national one—it is continental. It offers a roadmap for self-reliance in a world increasingly shaped by economic blackmail. And that is why, today, Eritrea is being targeted.

Its refusal to play by the old rules is not a threat to global peace—it is a threat to global control. The banks fear it. The think tanks fear it. And the military generals tasked with preserving empire fear it too.

But Eritrea does not fear. It celebrates.

This Independence Day, the world should not ask why Eritrea is under pressure. It should ask: what can we learn from its strength?

Because in that strength lies the blueprint for true liberation.

ERITREA — Another China–Eritrea partnership is paying off: construction of the Asmara Mining Share Company (AMSC) processing plant, is well underway.

AMSC, a 60:40 joint venture, focuses on the extraction and processing of copper, zinc, gold, and silver.

The project taps into four key VMS deposits around Asmara, including Debarwa, Emba Derho, Adi Nefas, and Gupo Gold.

Wedi Medhin Berad skunis are recyling old news to stay relevants. Lets debunk their hallucinations.

This is Doha Qatar and it harbour the largest American base in the Middle East. Hence the fact some skunis are justifying the failure of the Eritrean dictator make any economic reform by blaming the Americans is just lame excuse which is boring and outdated.

To put it plain and simple, there is nothing to celebrate for, changing the slave Mengistu with the son of a Barista wedi Medhin berad doesnt need an occasion to celebrate. We rather reflect.

In regard to national pride? What exactly are our national pride? been pathetic and hopeless refugee scattered through the world?

Instead of recognizing Eritrea’s miracle—beating colonialism and building sovereignty without aid—the West labels it a "hermit kingdom." But Eritrea has given up much, and still stands. That endurance frightens global elites because it proves another path is possible.
You can use Eritrea as a bad terrible example, you can scare people or individuals by saying, dont ever do what the pathetic leader of Eritrea is doing.

   Where are the infrastructure? Ibrahim Troare of Burkina Faso have build more roads and more apartment building in 3 years than the pathetic dictator in 30 year.

He refuses to glamorize leadership or seek Western approval. His low profile and stoic governance are seen as authoritarian only because they do not cater to neoliberal ideals of democracy—where elections are held, but outcomes are bought.

Not bother to continue this

Why Djibouti? Hundreds of New Mexico National Guardsmen are being deployed halfway around the world

By Jay Newton-Small / Executive Editor

https://www.abqjournal.com/news/article ... c82fb.html

May 16, 2025

Why are hundreds of New Mexico National Guardsmen heading to Djibouti?

This week saw farewell ceremonies in Las Cruces and Rio Rancho for 400 National Guard troops being deployed to Djibouti. Wait, you may ask, where is Djibouti and what are U.S. interests there?

Djibouti is on the Horn of Africa’s eastern shore. The country itself is fairly poor, with an estimated GDP https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/ ... s/djibouti of just over $7 billion in 2023 — even the poorest U.S. state by GDP, Vermont, had a GDP of $44 billion in 2023 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of ... ies_by_GDP — and not resource rich. But the U.S. has held an expanding presence in Djibouti, now home to the largest U.S. military base in Africa. From Camp Lemonnier and smaller bases across Djibouti, U.S. forces have engaged with Somali pirates — helping clear international shipping routes — flown sorties to Yemen and the Middle East and most importantly been home to the largest U.S. drone operations across the region.

The U.S. began diplomatic relations with the former French colony in 1977, posting our first ambassador there in 1980. Djibouti supported the U.S. in the Gulf War and again in the conflicts post 9/11. This led to Djibouti agreeing to host American forces at a former French Foreign Legion base outside its capitol — Camp Lemonnier shares a commercial runway with Djibouti’s main airport. That occupancy was drastically expanded to encompass more than 500 acres around the area in 2014 https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics ... story.html under a 20-year deal orchestrated by President Barack Obama, leading to the nearly 2,000 U.S. personnel based there today.

But the U.S. is not alone in its interest in the Muslim country, which sits at the confluence of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. In 2017, China established https://fortune.com/2018/05/09/china-la ... war-africa a military outpost not far from Camp Lemonnier. And China’s sway has been growing as it invests more development money in the tiny country. This, some experts believe, has led to Djibouti being reluctant to allow American operations fighting the Houthi rebels in Yemen of late, though they have previously done so. Defeating these rebels is a long-held goal for American ally Saudi Arabia, a Sunni Muslim nation. China, on the other hand, has maintained closer ties with the Shia Muslim majority Iran — Saudi’s historic enemy — and Shia-heavy southern Iraq, where China has invested heavily in oil fields. Some have gone so far as to speculate https://mei.edu/publications/djibouti-d ... activities that China is secretly funding and equipping the Houthi rebels to further distract and harass Saudi, and the U.S.

Given the Trump administration’s dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development, which had provided nearly $10 million in food aid to Djibouti in 2023 and 2024 https://reliefweb.int/report/djibouti/d ... ugust-202490% of Djibouti’s food comes from foreign aid programs — the soft power levers with which to curry favor with the Djibouti government have been more limited. Though the deployment could simply be to fight the constant threat of piracy in these waters, there could be another motivation at play. In theory, expanding the U.S. presence in the region to help keep the peace, and the shipping lines open, and helps win more favor and cooperation from the Djiboutians.

The Neo-colonialists used Ethiopia as an experiment of what they would like to repeat in the rest of Africa:
  • A country led by mercenaries
A country that has no qualms fighting mercenary wars of invasion and sacrificing millions of lives.
The most highly indebted nation in the world
A country with worthless currency to make the exploitation of its resources extremely easy
A nation of people heavily reliant on food-aid.
A government with 96% of its budget coming from foreign aid
A country where there's a strong incentive to lie
A nation with the lowest paid doctors/physicians
A country with the lowest literacy rate in the world
