You are repeating the same mistake Horus is doing. I am not and cannot be tribalist or ethnocentric. As you might have observed, I don't post topics on Gurage not even Gurage Christian Songs. I am changed due to my religion as well as the life experience I lived through time. Not because I am rooted in Ahmara culture. For me there no single representing dominant culture. All have their beauty. That is how our ancestors handled them living together. The beauty is in the diversity. For me, there is no Amhara culture by the way. The so-called Amhara culture is the culture we all grew up. Even Gurage culture is the Culture we grew up in Addis. The same for the rest of the tribes. "Waya seleme" is Kambata or hadiya song. But it is a huge song in a stadium in Addis. Tsehyae Tigrigna, Kiros something etc all were darling music in Ethiopia. Woliyta songs and Oromo songs are popular too in Addis. That is what it means cosmopolitan Ethiopia or Addis. We all lived in Addis or college together from Somali to even Eritrean. That is how we lived together. After growing like that, moving to another country you call home, it is very difficult to go back and be ethnocentric unlike the Oromo and Tigre politicians who want to misrule the Ethiopian poor public. I have been in differnt parts of Ethiopia, the world, worked, ate, entertained, worshiped and do same now with people from all over the world. Talking about maintaining or preserving ethnic culture including language, identity etc should never have been a national big political agenda instead of problems to be dealt under the context of the bigger national identity. All in all, I don't believe in ethnically segregated and ruled Ethiopia under the hegemony of the winner ethnic. I don't even support democratic ethnically ruled Ethiopia. The only way forward for federation should be non-ethnic like the likes of USA.
Why I support Amhara Fano is so clear for any person that is not stupid. In the past six years who is the one being tortured and filling the prisons? Who said I will not be Amhara if you don't kill be today? it is an Amhara kid whose parents were killed for no good reason, but they were Amhara. From the hate you you yourself perpetuate to the fascist Oromos to TPLF Tigres, Amhara in that country is a victim. They deserve to stand for their right and they deserve support from all Ethiopians that are like me if not like you or TPLF evils. I cannot list all atrocities they faced during the past 50 years. They do not deserve this even if people think there were mistakes they committed in the past. Gurage too is cornered and oppressed. The same for all southerners. But they are still silent. If they don't rise for their right no one is going to stand for them. Amhara is doing what is good for it when Amhara hater and exterminator is in office and killing them. Many of us also have a hope Fano will correct many of the mistakes the current rulers and TPLF could not correct in the country. Fano is looking at how bad ethnic politics is and we hope they will remedy that too. However, not only Oromuma or TPLF but any group in the future that misrules the country will face the same opposition not because of its Ethnicity but because of oppression. That is what is happening to TPLF and OPP. If I support Amhara or Fano because justice demands it. Don't bring this claim stating I am amhranzed bla bal again. I have the right to choose what and who I support.

All of us grew up, schooled and worked in comopolititan Addis, Dire Dawa, Jimma, Debre Zeit, Mekele, Gonder, Debre Marqos. Had Amara, Tigrey, Oromo, Welaita, Adere classmates, work colleagues and neigbhors.

Travelled in Africa, Europe and now live in North Ametica(3 decades for me) and have had friends from these worlds. It's not only Odie who has city life experience.

Moreover, I travelled in rural Gojjam and Gonder and know the history of north Ethiopia down to antiquities, all things considered much better than you.

Gurage has been killed in much more gruesome ways by grooups indirectly connected to EPRDF and PP continued it more vigorously. There are those who spoke up against it were killed or jailed. Those who took arms hunted down,killed or jailed without charge.

There are Gurage farmers in Mwahir or Muhir whose houses were burned in broaday light and in the dark of nights with whole family and animals inside. There are now about 60,000 Mesqan villagers displaced by terrorism and afraid to go back to their homes. Most probably, their farms are by now taken by the Mareqos who displaced them.

Qebena Wereda has 24 villages, out of which 16 are Abeshge Gurages. But no Gurage holds administrative position in the wereda. All Qebena wereda is manned by ethnic Qebena individials who constitute 35% minority. They also discriminate against Gurages in the provision of wereda service such as education, health and raods.

My point is you have the right to know and make decisions who you want to service. If you thought Gurage was not oppressed or less oppressed than Amara, you are wrong.

If your decision to cheer for Fano was based on the probability of its success to overthrow PP, you are right. Gurage has not yet formed such armed group and it may not in the near future.
But nothing can stop you from reading about Gurage and speaking justice for Gurage innocents burned alive, their baby girls breasts and baby boys genitals amputated as they sat in their primary school in Mesqan. It's a human call. You don't need to be an interrnatinalist when you speak for Amara victims but become an ethnicist or racist when you speak up for Gurage victoms of violence.

I remember you told me the Gurage topgraphy is not suitable for gorilla war. Your views are really wrong. Shows how little time you spend about the voracity of what you say. Think more!

I want to underline this point that you are no bettet or worse than me in exposure to diversr Ethiopian and world cultures. On a scale, I will outweigh your little experiences about the diversr world.
