Actually that maths is correct for the first kid as follows

To calculate the first child’s Amhara heritage (assuming mother is Amhara):
Each parent contributes 50% of the child’s genetic makeup.

From the father:

50% of his DNA is Amhara (assuming his mother is Amhara) → 0.5 × 0.5 = 0.25 (25%)

From the children's mother (assuming she is fully Amhara):

100% Amhara → 0.5 × 1 = 0.5 (50%)

Total Amhara composition of the child:
