President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia has demonstrated greater political acumen than Abiy Ahmed, whose educational background is often a topic of public debate. Many may recall the wave of celebratory news from Prosperity Party (PP) outlets when Abiy announced what was described as a “historic” agreement for Ethiopia to access a port in the breakaway region of Somaliland. At the time, PP-aligned media praised the deal as a testament to Abiy's vision and creativity, even saying “With the creativity of our intelligent leader, our need for a port became a reality, What can be said other than thank God, at the initiative of the Prime Minister ….. bla bla bla . But in light of recent developments in Somalia, it’s evident that the initial triumph has not materialized as expected. The political momentum has clearly shifted in Somalia's favor.
