That is not necessarily persecution. They are biased to the left (liberal agenda) and influenced by big pharma that is the allegation. In fact, science has become a religion although we know science and knowledge is relative and changes with time as well as with new understandings.
For example, investment in science working on gender transformation, studying hormones on kids to change their gender etc. is mostly a leftist idea as for some people this subject could be shocking and unbelievable. Science also shoved evolution in the mind of people as if it were a proven science. Evolution can be taught in class but Christian ethics or moral study from the bible has been pushed out.
