President Putin Invites Ethiopian PM To Russia

Mogadishu (HOL) — Russian President Vladimir Putin has officially invited Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to attend the upcoming Russia–Arab League Summit, set to take place later this year.
The invitation was delivered on Sunday by Mikhail L. Bogdanov, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, during a meeting with President Mohamud in Mogadishu.

Russia has long desired to establish a foothold and influence in the East African countries bordering the Indian Ocean, Somalia, Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, Comoros, Tanzania, Kenya, Seychelles, but these countries, particularly Somalia, are wary of being seen as aligning with Russia against the United States and the European Union.
